The Villa Canestrari Educational Centre occupies two floors: on the ground floor, there is a “Museum of Wine”, and on the first floor, a classroom where lessons are held on viticulture and winemaking for the young and for the not so young — indeed for anyone interested in the subject.
Inside the museum, visitors can admire old vines, pruned and for pruning, with grafts clearly in evidence, also the racks on which grapes were able to dry slowly, as well as old bins and baskets used for harvesting purposes.

Also on show are crushing presses — the earliest wooden and manually operated — including an electric machine first used in the 1920s.
And then there is a section with filtering, bottling and capping machines. On the subject of capping, a display board illustrates almost all the different types of bottle closures.

Visitors can see a reconstructed office (early 1900s) with business machines, ledgers and other equipment of the period; and in a similar mock-up of a laboratory, most of the instruments used for the analysis of wines can be seen on display.
Teaching methods using video are currently being planned. The combination of museum and classroom already provides a facility where visitors can take in the various aspects of an ancient and still fascinating occupation, in a relatively short time.
